Born from real losses: the builder and his father had both been hit by online fraud
First draft built live on camera, with a polished version to follow
Chetan Soni did an MBA and works at one of the Big 4 firms, with no background in coding or building websites. He is a passionate golfer, and the session was recorded at a golf range. The idea came from losing money on fake shopping sites and watching his father lose money to a cyberattack.
What got in the way.
As e-commerce has grown, so have digital scams and fake websites. Chetan had lost money to sites where the product turned out to be fake or the seller vanished after payment, and his father had been hit by a cyberattack. He wanted a way to check whether a site is legitimate before paying, but had no technical background to build it.
How we shipped it.
On CreateOS, with prompts given in plain language, Chetan built Scam or Legit: a tool that assesses whether a shopping site is real or fraudulent. He logged in by email, connected GitHub for deployment with no prior experience, and had a working first draft in about ten minutes. The team committed to polishing it into a usable version he could take to market.
I haven't seen something as simple as that. About ten minutes in, I put in whatever came to mind first and it captured it so well. I feel like a professional today.
