Ground
A model on its own knows the general internet up to its training date. It does not know your pricing, your policies, your customers, or what it told someone yesterday. Grounding fixes that.
Two kinds of knowing
| Knowledge base | Memory | |
|---|---|---|
| What it holds | Documents you upload | Facts learned from past conversations |
| Who writes it | You, deliberately | The agent, automatically |
| Changes | When you upload or delete a file | After every successful turn |
| Good for | Policies, manuals, contracts, SOPs | Preferences, ongoing context, "as I mentioned last week..." |
| Shared across agents | Yes. Attach one knowledge base to many agents. | Scoped per organization, agent and user |
