CreateOS Sandbox vs AWS Fargate

AWS Fargate suits containerised services and batch jobs that already live in ECS or EKS and need VPC networking and IAM roles. CreateOS Sandbox suits interactive agent work: a micro-VM you create from an SDK, pause with its memory, fork, and reach on an HTTPS URL. Fargate scales to 32 vCPU per task; CreateOS stops at 8 vCPU but adds pause and fork.

Pricing at a Glance

CreateOS rates verified 17 October 2026. AWS Fargate pricing as published on 17 October 2026. Rates billed per GB rather than per GiB, or as bundled sizes, are quoted as published rather than converted.

Linux/x86 in US East costs $0.000011244 per vCPU-second and $0.000001235 per GB-second, billed per second with a 1-minute minimum (5 minutes on Windows), with Fargate Spot up to 70% off, as of 17 October 2026.

Where CreateOS Sandbox Fits Better

What CreateOS Sandbox brings to this matchup, with a plain note on where AWS Fargate has the edge.

Pause and resume with memory, disk and CPU state kept; Fargate tasks lose ephemeral storage when they stop.

Fork a prepared sandbox into many copies; Fargate publishes no fork feature.

A sandbox starts from one SDK or CLI call, without task definitions, clusters or subnet setup.

Where AWS Fargate is strong

Run any container image on AWS with per-second billing, VPC networking and IAM roles, with each task on single-use, single-tenant compute and no servers or cluster capacity to manage.

Which to Pick

Pick CreateOS Sandbox if

  • An agent needs a stateful machine it can pause and come back to
  • You want to fork a warmed-up environment for parallel attempts
  • You want hostname allowlists for outbound traffic without VPC plumbing

Pick AWS Fargate if

  • Your services already run on ECS or EKS
  • Tasks need up to 32 vCPU and 244 GB, or EFS and EBS volumes
  • You need HIPAA eligibility or FedRAMP on AWS (vendor-stated)

Common Questions

Can an AWS Fargate task be paused and resumed later?

No. Fargate has no pause, resume or memory snapshot, and ephemeral storage is lost when a task stops, so durable data goes on EFS or EBS. A CreateOS sandbox can pause with disk, memory and CPU state and resume later, with vCPU billing stopped while paused.

How does AWS Fargate pricing compare with CreateOS Sandbox?

Fargate Linux/x86 is about $0.0405 per vCPU-hour and $0.000001235 per GB-second in US East, with a 1-minute minimum. CreateOS is $0.03616363 per vCPU-hour and $0.01159025 per GiB-hour, per second with no minimum. Fargate memory is cheaper; CreateOS vCPU is cheaper.

Does AWS Fargate support GPUs for agent workloads?

No. The Fargate FAQ says GPU workloads are not supported and points to EC2. CreateOS Sandbox has no GPU shapes either, so for GPU-backed agent tools neither is the answer; you would look at EC2 or a GPU provider.
