CreateOS Sandbox vs Leap0

Pick Leap0 if you want a security-first Firecracker sandbox with host-side credential injection and are comfortable building on a free public preview. Pick CreateOS Sandbox if you need sandboxes that run past 8 hours, more than 8 GB of RAM or 10 GiB of disk, or an EU region.

Leap0 is in public preview: the service is free for now, and its docs warn of breaking changes and downtime during the preview.

Pricing at a Glance

CreateOS rates verified 17 October 2026. Leap0 pricing as published on 17 October 2026. Rates billed per GB rather than per GiB, or as bundled sizes, are quoted as published rather than converted.

Where CreateOS Sandbox Fits Better

What CreateOS Sandbox brings to this matchup, with a plain note on where Leap0 has the edge.

No lifetime cap; Leap0 sandboxes time out at 8 hours at most, 5 minutes by default.

Up to 16 GB RAM and 60 GiB disk on Enterprise, against Leap0's preview ceiling of 8 GB and 10 GiB.

eu and us regions, where Leap0 runs in the US only.

Concurrency caps are published per plan (1, 5, 20, 30); Leap0 does not publish a concurrency limit.

Where Leap0 is strong

Leap0 is a security-first sandbox API: Firecracker with Jailer hardening, a per-sandbox egress firewall with domain and CIDR rules, host-side credential injection so API keys never enter the sandbox, plus memory snapshots and fan-out forks.

Which to Pick

Pick CreateOS Sandbox if

  • Agent sessions run longer than 8 hours.
  • You need more than 8 GB of memory or 10 GiB of disk.
  • You want an EU region and published concurrency limits.

Pick Leap0 if

  • You want host-side credential injection so API keys never enter the sandbox.
  • Free usage during the preview matters more than an SLA.
  • Your jobs fit in 8 vCPU / 8 GB and finish within 8 hours.

Common Questions

Is Leap0 free to use?

Yes, for now. Leap0 is free during its public preview with no card required, and it lists $0.0504 per vCPU-hour and $0.0162 per GB-hour as the rates that will apply once billing goes live. CreateOS Sandbox bills today at $0.03616363 per vCPU-hour and $0.01159025 per GiB-hour.

How long can a Leap0 sandbox stay up?

At most 8 hours. Leap0 timeouts range from 1 minute to 8 hours, with a 5-minute default. CreateOS Sandbox has no lifetime cap; you can set auto-pause after 60 seconds to 24 hours of inactivity, or leave it off, which is the default.

Do Leap0 and CreateOS handle egress the same way?

Closely. Both allow all outbound traffic when no policy is set and let you lock it down by domain and CIDR. Leap0 adds a deny-all mode and host-side header injection; CreateOS Sandbox switches to deny-by-default as soon as one rule exists and enforces it on the host.
