CreateOS Sandbox vs Novita

Pick Novita if you already use its model APIs or GPUs and want sandboxes on the same bill, with up to 100 concurrent sandboxes on a paid plan. Pick CreateOS Sandbox for agent sessions longer than Novita's 3-hour paid cap, for an EU region, or when a security review asks you to name the isolation technology. List rates are almost identical.

Pricing at a Glance

CreateOS rates verified 17 October 2026. Novita pricing as published on 17 October 2026. Rates billed per GB rather than per GiB, or as bundled sizes, are quoted as published rather than converted.

Where CreateOS Sandbox Fits Better

What CreateOS Sandbox brings to this matchup, with a plain note on where Novita has the edge.

No session cap: a sandbox runs until you pause or destroy it. Novita caps sessions at 1 hour on Free, 3 hours on Paid and 4 hours by default on Enterprise.

An EU region alongside the US one; Novita lists us-phx-1 and us-virginia-1.

Named isolation: each sandbox is a Firecracker micro-VM with its own guest kernel. Novita's sandbox docs do not state the technology.

Go, Rust, C# and Java clients on top of TypeScript and Python (all but TypeScript pre-1.0), against Novita's Python and JavaScript SDKs.

Where Novita is strong

Novita puts model APIs and sandboxes on one account, with memory-preserving pause that stops CPU and RAM billing, live-memory snapshots, IP and domain allowlists, and $100 of starter credit at per-second rates slightly below CreateOS's.

Which to Pick

Pick CreateOS Sandbox if

  • Your agent sessions run longer than 3 hours.
  • Your data or users need an EU region.
  • Your security review asks which isolation technology runs the code.

Pick Novita if

  • You already call Novita for LLM inference or GPUs.
  • You need up to 100 concurrent sandboxes on a paid plan, or 500 on Enterprise.
  • You want pause to stop CPU and RAM billing.

Common Questions

How long can a Novita sandbox run?

Up to 1 hour on Free, 3 hours on Paid and 4 hours by default on Enterprise, counted from creation regardless of activity. A timeout can pause the sandbox instead of killing it. CreateOS has no session cap; a sandbox runs until you pause or destroy it.

Does pausing stop billing on Novita and on CreateOS?

On Novita, pause stops CPU and RAM billing, and paused data counts as persistent storage beyond a 60 GB free allowance. On CreateOS, pause stops vCPU billing only; memory and storage are still charged while the sandbox is paused.

Are Novita and CreateOS priced differently?

Barely. Novita lists $0.03528 per vCPU-hour and $0.01152 per GiB-hour; CreateOS lists $0.03616363 and $0.01159025. The bigger differences are session caps, regions and how pause is billed, so compare on those first.

Which regions do Novita sandboxes run in?

Novita lists us-phx-1, the default v2 region, and the legacy us-virginia-1. CreateOS has two managed regions, eu and us, chosen with the region field when you create a sandbox.
