CreateOS Sandbox vs Clever Cloud
Clever Cloud is the stronger choice when apps and data must stay on EU-sovereign or health-certified infrastructure, with SecNumCloud and HDS options. CreateOS Sandbox fits when an agent needs a disposable, API-created micro-VM to run code it just wrote. CreateOS offers an eu region, and its listed certifications are SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.
Pricing at a Glance
CreateOS rates verified 17 October 2026. Clever Cloud pricing as published on 17 October 2026. Rates billed per GB rather than per GiB, or as bundled sizes, are quoted as published rather than converted.
CreateOS Sandbox
- Compute
- $0.0362 /vCPU-hr
- Memory
- $0.0116 /GiB-hr
Clever Cloud
Clever Cloud bills by the second according to instance flavor and count; flavor prices appear only in its interactive estimator, as of 17 October 2026.
Where CreateOS Sandbox Fits Better
What CreateOS Sandbox brings to this matchup, with a plain note on where Clever Cloud has the edge.
Create and destroy a sandbox per task from six SDKs, a CLI, MCP or REST, where Clever Cloud's unit is a Git-deployed app.
Egress allowlists enforced on the host, outside the VM. Clever Cloud does not publish egress controls.
Published per-second rates for vCPU and memory; Clever Cloud shows flavor prices only in its estimator.
A paused sandbox keeps memory and CPU state and can be forked.
Where Clever Cloud is strong
Data sovereignty. Clever Cloud runs on EU-hosted infrastructure with SecNumCloud (through its Cloud Temple region) and HDS health data hosting options, which matters for French public sector and health workloads.
Which to Pick
Pick CreateOS Sandbox if
- You need a fresh isolated machine for each agent task
- You want published per-second rates you can budget from
- You want to fork a prepared environment into parallel runs
Pick Clever Cloud if
- You need SecNumCloud or HDS hosting
- You run long-lived apps with managed databases and autoscaling
- You want instance flavors up to 16 vCPU / 32 GiB
Head-to-Head Comparison
Every dimension side by side, checked on 17 October 2026 against each vendor's own docs and pricing pages. "Not published" means we could not find it on the vendor's pages, not that the feature is missing.
| Dimension | CreateOS Sandbox | Clever Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | API-created sandboxes for agent-written and untrusted code | Hosting web apps, APIs and databases on European, sovereignty-focused infrastructure |
| Isolation | Firecracker micro-VM with its own guest kernel | Not published |
| Ephemeral per-run environments | Yes. Create a sandbox per task by API, SDK, CLI or MCP and destroy it after | Not the model; apps are long-running instances |
| Pause and resume | Yes. Saves disk, memory and CPU state; vCPU stops billing while paused, memory and storage still bill | Not published |
| Outbound network | Open with no rules; deny-by-default once any rule exists (host, IP, CIDR, wildcard), enforced on the host outside the VM | Not published |
| Billing | Per second: $0.03616363/vCPU-hr, $0.01159025/GiB-hr, storage $0.0001584/GB-hr; no egress fees (50 GiB bandwidth budget per sandbox by default) | Per second by instance flavor and count; prices shown only in the estimator |
| Run untrusted code | Yes, the core use case; each sandbox is its own micro-VM | Not published as a use case |
Common Questions
Is Clever Cloud certified for health data?
Clever Cloud states HDS health data hosting, ISO 27001, and SecNumCloud through its Cloud Temple region (vendor-stated). CreateOS is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified, with reports available under NDA. If you need HDS or SecNumCloud specifically, Clever Cloud lists them and CreateOS does not.
Does Clever Cloud publish per-vCPU prices?
No public per-vCPU figure. Clever Cloud bills per second, but flavor prices appear only in its interactive estimator, and its product API price field has no documented unit. CreateOS publishes $0.03616363 per vCPU-hour and $0.01159025 per GiB-hour, the same on every plan.
How large can an instance get on each?
Clever Cloud's 3XL flavor reaches 16 vCPU / 32 GiB for the Node.js and Bun runtime, with up to 40 instances per app. The largest CreateOS sandbox is 8 vCPU / 16 GB on Enterprise and 8 vCPU / 8 GB on Pro.
