CreateOS Sandbox vs CloudCruise
Healthcare operations teams automating payer portals and EHRs should start with CloudCruise, which includes a BAA even on its free Starter plan and uses agents that repair workflows when portals change. CreateOS Sandbox is for running arbitrary agent code in a general Linux VM, outside any one industry's workflow format.
Pricing at a Glance
CreateOS rates verified 17 October 2026. CloudCruise pricing as published on 17 October 2026. Rates billed per GB rather than per GiB, or as bundled sizes, are quoted as published rather than converted.
CreateOS Sandbox
- Compute
- $0.0362 /vCPU-hr
- Memory
- $0.0116 /GiB-hr
CloudCruise
Starter is $0/month with 2 automation hours then $3 per hour, and Scale is $700/month with volume discounts; VM, proxies and AI are included in the usage fee, as of 17 October 2026.
Where CreateOS Sandbox Fits Better
What CreateOS Sandbox brings to this matchup, with a plain note on where CloudCruise has the edge.
Arbitrary code runs directly; CloudCruise executes workflows written in its own DSL.
Shapes, concurrency caps and per-second rates are all published.
Pause and fork a sandbox to branch work from a saved memory state.
Where CloudCruise is strong
Built for healthcare: a BAA comes with every plan, including the free Starter tier, and a maintenance agent repairs workflows when payer portals change.
Which to Pick
Pick CreateOS Sandbox if
- Your workload is not healthcare admin, or needs code outside a workflow DSL.
- You need published CPU and memory sizes.
- You want egress allowlists you control.
Pick CloudCruise if
- You automate payer portals or EHRs and need a BAA from day one.
- You want workflows built and maintained by vendor agents.
- One $3 automation-hour rate covering VM, proxies and AI suits your budgeting.
Head-to-Head Comparison
Every dimension side by side, checked on 17 October 2026 against each vendor's own docs and pricing pages. "Not published" means we could not find it on the vendor's pages, not that the feature is missing.
| Dimension | CreateOS Sandbox | CloudCruise |
|---|---|---|
| What you get (browser vs full Linux machine) | Full Linux micro-VM; the desktop:1 image adds an XFCE desktop, Google Chrome and a computer-use API | Healthcare workflow automation, built by a builder agent and kept working by a maintenance agent |
| Isolation | Firecracker micro-VM with its own guest kernel, root filesystem and network identity | Not published; VM infrastructure included in the usage fee |
| Session length | No lifetime cap; optional idle auto-pause from 60 s to 24 h, off by default | Not published |
| Run arbitrary code | Yes: exec, shell, files and managed processes; devbox:1 ships Python 3.12, Node.js 24, Go, Rust and Docker | Runs CloudCruise workflows defined in its own DSL, not arbitrary code |
| Outbound network | Open with no rules; deny-by-default once any host, IP, CIDR or wildcard rule exists, enforced on the host outside the VM | Not published; proxies included |
| Billing | Per second: $0.03616363/vCPU-hr, $0.01159025/GiB-hr, storage $0.0001584/GB-hr; no per-GB egress price, 50 GiB bandwidth budget per sandbox | Starter $0 (2 automation hours, then $3/hour); Scale $700/mo; VM, proxies and AI included |
| Pause and resume | Pause saves disk, memory and CPU state; vCPU stops billing, memory and storage still bill | Vault reuses encrypted credentials across workflows; other persistence not published |
| Interfaces | SDKs in TypeScript, Go, Python, Rust, C# and Java (all but TypeScript pre-1.0), CLI, MCP server, REST API | TypeScript and Python SDKs, HTTP API (POST /run) |
Common Questions
Does CloudCruise sign a BAA on its free plan?
Yes. Starter, at $0 per month, includes a standard BAA, and Scale adds a custom one. CreateOS is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified, with reports available under NDA. A BAA is not among the CreateOS facts used for this page.
Can CloudCruise run my own code?
Not arbitrary code. It runs workflows defined in its own DSL, built and maintained by its agents and called through POST /run. CreateOS Sandbox runs whatever your agent writes, in a Firecracker micro-VM with its own guest kernel.
What does a CloudCruise automation hour include?
The $3 hourly rate after Starter's 2 free hours covers the VM, proxies and AI together. CreateOS charges separately for vCPU, memory and storage per second, with no per-GB egress price inside each sandbox's 50 GiB bandwidth budget.
