What It Does
The agent builds the document pack for a booked shipment, the commercial invoice, packing list, certificates, and declarations, from the order and the trade compliance rules for that destination, then checks it for missing documents and for values that disagree across them. It lists what needs fixing, and a person files.Without it: Export documents are detailed and unforgiving, and a single error holds a shipment at the border.
- HS codes come from the item master, checked against the destination tariff list
- Certificates of origin and inspection are matched to the lots actually shipping
- Destination rules that changed since the last shipment there are called out
- Split containers and partial shipments each get their own pack
Illustrative example
Booking BKG-3391, 22 cartons of finished garments to Hamburg, falls due. The pack comes back assembled from order SO-1180 with two things flagged: a gross weight of 418 kg on the packing list against 412 kg on the invoice, and an HS code the destination reclassified in April. The export desk fixes both, then files with the forwarder.
