CreateOS Sandbox vs Hyperstack
Hyperstack is a good fit for cheap on-demand or reserved NVIDIA GPUs with API-driven VMs and Kubernetes in Canada, Norway or the US. CreateOS Sandbox is the fit for short-lived CPU sandboxes for agent code, with memory-state pause and fork. Both start with outbound traffic open; CreateOS switches to deny-by-default as soon as you add a rule.
Pricing at a Glance
CreateOS rates verified 17 October 2026. Hyperstack pricing as published on 17 October 2026. Rates billed per GB rather than per GiB, or as bundled sizes, are quoted as published rather than converted.
CreateOS Sandbox
- Compute
- $0.0362 /vCPU-hr
- Memory
- $0.0116 /GiB-hr
Hyperstack
Hyperstack lists on-demand H100 SXM at $3.20 per GPU-hour and B200 at $6.00, billed per minute and prepaid, with CPU VMs from $0.35/hr, as of 17 October 2026.
Where CreateOS Sandbox Fits Better
What CreateOS Sandbox brings to this matchup, with a plain note on where Hyperstack has the edge.
Pause keeps memory and CPU state, where Hyperstack hibernate saves the root disk and drops the ephemeral disk.
Fork a paused sandbox into many; Hyperstack offers snapshots for backup and versioning, and live fork is not published.
Hostname egress rules; Hyperstack firewall rules use CIDR, protocol and port.
Where Hyperstack is strong
Low per-minute GPU prices, free egress, a hibernate state that stops compute billing while keeping the root disk, and documented firewall rules on every VM, on infrastructure the vendor says is 100% renewable-powered.
Which to Pick
Pick CreateOS Sandbox if
- You run agent code on CPUs and want a micro-VM per task.
- You want memory-state pause and fork.
- You want egress allowlists by hostname.
Pick Hyperstack if
- You need B300, B200, H200 or H100 GPUs on demand or reserved.
- You want to hibernate GPU VMs between runs without paying for compute.
- You need capacity in Canada or Norway.
Head-to-Head Comparison
Every dimension side by side, checked on 17 October 2026 against each vendor's own docs and pricing pages. "Not published" means we could not find it on the vendor's pages, not that the feature is missing.
| Dimension | CreateOS Sandbox | Hyperstack |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Running agent and untrusted code in isolated, disposable Linux sandboxes | Training, fine-tuning and inference on rented NVIDIA GPUs |
| GPU | None; no GPU shapes | Yes: B300, B200, H200, H100, A100, RTX PRO 6000 SE, L40, RTX A6000, RTX A4000 |
| Isolation | Firecracker micro-VM with its own guest kernel | Full VM (hypervisor not published); CPU pinning on multi-GPU flavors |
| Billing | Per second while running: $0.03616363/vCPU-hr, $0.01159025/GiB-hr, storage $0.0001584/GB-hr | Per minute on demand (prepaid); reserved monthly; spot for some GPUs |
| Pause and resume | Yes: disk, memory and CPU state saved; vCPU stops billing, memory and storage still bill | Hibernate: compute not billed, root disk saved, ephemeral disk lost; no memory snapshot published |
| Outbound network | Open with no rules; deny-by-default once any host, IP, CIDR or wildcard rule exists, enforced on the host outside the VM | Open: all outbound allowed, inbound blocked; rules by direction, CIDR, protocol and port |
| Create by API | Yes: REST API, CLI, MCP server and SDKs for TypeScript, Go, Python, Rust, C# and Java (all but TypeScript pre-1.0) | REST API; Python, Go and JavaScript SDKs and a Terraform provider, all marked pre-release by the vendor; MCP server |
Common Questions
What does Hyperstack hibernate keep?
Hibernate stops compute billing and saves the root disk to persistent storage at about $0.07 per GB-month, but the ephemeral disk is not saved and the public IP is released unless retained. CreateOS pause saves disk, memory and CPU registers, and bills memory and storage while paused.
Does Hyperstack charge for egress?
No. Hyperstack lists egress as free, with no bandwidth charges. CreateOS has no per-GB egress price either; each sandbox has a 50 GiB outbound budget by default, after which outbound traffic is dropped until recharged.
What happens to Hyperstack VMs when my balance runs out?
Hyperstack schedules resources for termination after balance depletion and may delete them after a week. CreateOS's Free plan starts with 500 credits and no card, and the paid Beginner plan runs from $10 to $50 a month.
